Baptisms at Pilgrim Congregational Church
Pilgrim Church offers infant, child, and adult baptism. The sacrament of baptism is an outward sign of God's grace and baptism takes place during the worship service.
During this sacred ceremony, the child's parent(s) and godparent(s) promise to raise the child in the Christian tradition. In the case of adult baptism, a godparent or sponsor will pledge to support the adult's faith formation. Additionally, the church community pledges it's support of the one being baptized.
At Pilgrim Church, we use a baptismal font only to hold the water for the ceremony--there is no immersion. The sign of the cross is placed on the forehead or the hand of the one being baptized.
The sacrament of baptism is what brings people into the community of Christ, therefore; there are no fees for baptism at Pilgrim Church. Donations for the church are gratefully accepted, but not required. To book a date for a baptism, please call 781-413-5952
